Song Ling was a China man. He had a store in the town. His goods were packed in the coloured papers. He often saved them to make the faces of kites for children. He also used to fly kites in China.

Nimmi and Lal had the same kite. They had home made kites. Its face was made of brown paper which was very heavy. It looked grey and beautiful in the sky. Its tail was made of red and green cloth, which really looked beautiful in the sky.

Rashida’s kite had come from India. It sang. An old friend of her father had sent it for her. In the beginning its face was bright green, but since then several coloured faces were given to this kite. The sticks and bamboo reed always remained the same. They were the voice of Rashida’s kite.

Rashida’s kite was different. It could sing. The sticks and pierced bamboo reed used in the making of her kite . They were the voice of her kite. They were always the same. If it could sang, it was due to the bamboo reed. Rashida’s kite came from India. It was sent by her father’ friend when she was born. At first, it was a bright green kite but during the time several colours were given to its face. She liked it very much because it could sing.

Mr. Angus brought the Australian kites. He had brought some long thin parcel from town. He handed over the packet to Rashida. He also asked her if she did not like them, he would return them. When Rashida open the packet, she found kites. But they were the Australian kites. There were three kites in the packetone pink, one green and one orange. Her father and Mr. Angus put the sticks together and fitted faces over them. The orange one was meant for Rashida. They were big kites. They were not smaller than Lal.

Ama was afraid of the wild creatures from the very beginning. She never allowed the children to go near them. In her eyes, they were dangerous creature. At first she scolded Rashida and warned her of going near them. When she noticed the torn kite, she was horrified. She thought that the brute creature might have behave similarly with the children. Rashida had deep attachment with the High Maharajah. She never considered him brute. Although she was fearful to go near him, the king of the air helped her in searching her kite. So she thought that the High Maharajah was good.
शुरू से ही अम्मा उस जंगली पक्षी से भयभीत रहती थी। वह कभी भी बच्चों को यह आदेश नहीं देती कि उस पक्षी के नजदीक जाएँ। उनकी नजरों में ये सभी खतरनाक प्राणी हैं। शुरू में वह रशीदा पर चिल्लाई और उसे उसके नज़दीक न जाने की चेतावनी दी। लेकिन रशीदा का उस ऊँचे महाराज के प्रति आत्मा की अतल गहराइयों समान सम्मान का भाव बैठा था। वह उसे कभी भी बर्बर मानने को तैयार नहीं थी। जबकि उसे भी उसके समीप जाने में काफी भय होता था लेकिन हवा के उस महाराज ने उसके पतंग को खोजने में उसकी सहायता की। यही कारण है।

Kite flying is famous all over the world. In India it is celebrated as a festival. But the people should also mind the harm caused by the string to the birds flying in the sky. Maaja used in the string is very dangerous. It may cut the skin of birds. The birds in the high sky may get entangled into this sharp string and lose its life. There are several instances which show that countless birds have lost its life during the kite flying season. The three children in the present story are very mindful to the High Maharajah.
They always keep their kites below so that the great eagle may not get entangled into the string of their kites and lose his life. Rashida has every worry about the High Maharajah. Whenever she flies kites, she looks at the sky to become sure that her kite flying may not cause harm to Maharajah. Her attachment and compassion for the king of the sky shows that she very careful of the flying birds. People must keep in mind that the string of kites may cause harm to the birds. They should be allowed to fly kites in limited areas only

वह हमेशा अपनी पतंगों को नीचे रखते हैं ताकि वह महान ईगल किसी भी तरह से उनके पतंग की डोर में न उलझे और अपनी जान गॅवा बैठे। रशीदा उस ऊँचे महाराजा के प्रति हमेशा चिंतित रहती थी। वह जब भी पतंग उड़ाती थी तो आकाश की ओर नजर उठाकर एक बार देख लेती और इस बात से आश्वस्त हो लेती कि उसके उड़ते पतंग की डोर से उस ऊँचे महाराज को किसी भी प्रकार से खतरा न हो। उसका आकाश के उस महाराज के प्रति स्नेह और दया भाव स्पष्ट करता है कि वह उड़ने वाली पक्षियों का काफी खयाल रखती थी। वे अपने पतंगों को सीमित क्षेत्र में ही उड़ने की इजाजत देते थे।
