Answer:
The writer tells that there are different types of books. Among these books there are some books that can be studied just for the sake of pleasure. These books are read in the similar manner, that we taste a thing. Tasting does not include the complete food. We tell about the nature, kind of the material. The writer talks about the books that are to be swallowed. These books are gulped. One does not read these books thoroughly. We can take the books that are used as reference material. Such books are referred, quoted for some particular cause.

In the last category the writer tells about the books which are to be ‘chewed and digested’. He talks of those are to be read thoroughly. These books have great importance. Every line or word of a particular book should be, need be gone through properly and deeply. The word digested means that the man should use the teachings given into the book, these should be followed by him in every manner. These give light to the character of the man. They can guide him in any problem. These books are the real friend of the man. So the last type of books are rare and those should be used and read only.

Answer:
The essayist tells here that reading makes a man complete. Complete means full of all virtues. Aristotle says, “Virtue is knowledge”. Reading makes a man competent enough to do a work with perfectness. It includes the characteristics in all the senses i.e. mental, physical and all round development of a man. The essayist means the word ‘conference which is somewhat related to the expression. A person has the power to speak with a good command over language. Conference empowers him to have the ability to collect the learnt material at one place and impart it to others.

Thus readiness comes when we want to perform an action with all the perfectness. It also includes discussion among fellows. Discussion strengthens knowledge or the material studied. Writing is also a way of expression. Writing includes the accumulation of reading material, ornamental language and the ideals and ideas acquired with the experience. Experience gives a man the power to understand a situation and let the others know about it. Thus writing inculcates all the things a perfect personality wants.
