Establish clocktowers as a symbol of confusing religious preachings.
Answer:
The poet is telling about people’s blind faith in religious authorities. The poet expresses his views through the example of clocktowers. People take the time told by clocktowers to be exact. But due to the differences in their manufacturing or the ways of gongs being beaten, they always tell different time. In the same way, people who preach religion do this job as per their own understanding of religion. They preach what they understand. Thus they all preach religion in different lights. This confuses and misguides people. Thus clocktowers are a symbol of confusing religious preachings.

Answer:
The poet’s attitude towards human violence and Nature’s fury expressed in the poem “Time and Time Again” is a true representation of what an average Indian thinks and feels about them. The poet feels that the wrong understanding of religion by the preachers of religions is the root cause of the continued animosity between communities. It is the common perception too that religious authorities interpret religion in their own way. They misguide people and this leads to clashes and riots. Regarding Nature’s fury, the general opinion concurs with that of the poet that natural disasters are the way Nature balances itself.

These differences are created by variations in the metallurgy of gong, setting of frequency and variation in wave length, thickness and moulding of the shaking hand. These variations have been implicitly compared with the various wrong interpretations of religion. Various religious authorities interpret religion in their own way and thus misguide people.

(i) आलोचनात्मक निन्दा

The poet wishes the people to be wise.

Why does the poet state the city as old well-managed city ?

It’s a mere ironical remark. The term ‘old’ refers to vices like prejudices, inequality, discrimination etc. In largest form city is refered to society. The society is ailing because it does not want to accept reforms felt necessary from time to time. It keeps working on its old set of patterns.

Question 6.
How do unmanned religious sentiments cause harm to the health of society?
Answer:
Religion in true sense is a means of guiding people to the path of love and peace. But if we are not careful, we take religion itself as an end. In this state, we foster biased sentiments for our religion. This causes communal disharmony which harms the health of society.
