Atul has measures of 50 ml, 100 ml, 200 ml and 500 ml. In how many ways can Atul measure the following quantities by using the measures the least time?
(1) 2 litre 750 ml.
(2) 3 litre 800 ml.

(1) 2 litre 750 ml.
= 2000 ml + 750 ml [because 1 litre = 1000 ml.]
= 4 × 500 ml. + (500 ml. + 250 ml.)
= 5 × 500 ml. + (200 ml. + 50 ml.)
= 500 ml. five times + 200 ml. one time + 50 ml. one time.

(2) 3 litre 800 ml.
= 3000 ml. + 800 ml.
= 3000 ml, + 500 ml. + 300 ml.
= 3500 ml. + 200 ml. + 100 ml.
= 7 × 500 ml. + 200 ml + 100 ml.
