Question 1.
Radha pours out 3 water containers of 500 ml., 200 ml. and 100 ml. respectively into a thermos. Now the thermos is e×actly half filled. Find the capacity of thermos.
Solution.
Total amount of water pours by(RBSESolutions.com)Radha in thermos
= 500 ml. + 200 ml. + 100 ml.
= 800 ml.
Thermos is half filled on pouring 800 ml. water in it then water used to fill thermos completely
= 800 ml. + 800 ml.
= 1600 ml.
Therefore capacity of thermos is 1600 ml.

Question 2.
Capacity of a small can of(RBSESolutions.com)kerosene is 3 litre. How much amount of kerosene, will be required to fill 8 such cans.
Solution.
Capacity of a small can of kerosene = 3 litre
∴ A mont of kerosene required to fill 8 such cans = 8 × 3 = 24 litre
Therefore, Amount of kerosene filled in 8 cans is 24 litre.

Question 3.
How many packets of milk having capacity of 250 ml. can be packed from 10 litre amount of milk.
Solution.
10 litre milk = 10 × 1000 ml.
= 10000 ml.

Therefore, 40 packets of 250 litre of milk can be packed in 10 litre of milk.

10 cans of 5 litre, 20 cans of 3 litre, 15 cans of 2 litre can be filled(RBSESolutions.com)from oil drum of 200 litre. How many cans of 1 litre can be filled from remaining amount of oil.
Solution.
Amount of oil in drum = 200 litre
Total amount of oil filled in 10 cans of 5 litre = 50 litre
Total amount of oil filled in 20 cans of 3 litre = 60 litre
Total amount of oil filled in 15 cans of 2 litre = 30 litre
Therefore, total amount of oil filled = 50 litre + 60 litre + 30 litre = 140 litre
Remaining oil = 200 litre – 140 litre = 60 litre
Remaining oil can be filled in cans of 1 litre
Therefore, number of cans filled in 60 litre oil = 60

Question 6.
A water tank is filled by a tap from above while it is emptied by another tap at the bottom. If the above tap fills with the speed of 25 litre per hour and the bottom tap(RBSESolutions.com)drains it with the speed of 10 litre per hour. After 4 hours what will be the amount of water left in the tank (imagine initially the tank was empty).
Solution.
Above tap fills in 1 hour = 25 litre water
∴ Above tap fills in 4 hour = 25 × 4 litre = 100 litre water
Again, bottom tap(RBSESolutions.com)drains in 1 hour = 10 litre water
∴ bottom tap drains in 4 hour = 10 × 4 litre = 40 litre water
∴ Amount of water in tank after 4 hour = 100 litre – 40 litre
= 60 litre
Therefore, there is 60 litre water in a tank after 4 hour.
