Question 1
Following are the properties (RBSESolutions.com) of multiplication of integers and opposite to them are the examples. Match the correct pair.

(i) (-4) x (5) = 5 x (-4) (a) Associative Property
(ii) (-4) x [(-3) + (-2)]  = (-4) x (-3) + (- 4)]  x (-2) (b) Commutative property
(iii) -4 (an integer) +7 (another integer), product (-4) x (+ 7) =  (-28) an integer property (c) Distributive property
(iv) (4) x [(-7) x (5)] = [(- 4) x (-7)] x (5) (d) Closure property

Solution:

(i) (-4) x (5) = 5 x (-4) (a) Commutative property
(ii) (-4) x [(-3) + (-2)]  = (-4) x (-3) + (- 4)]  x (-2) (b) Distributive property
(iii) -4 first integer +7 second integer, multiplication(-4) x (+ 7) =  (-28) also integer (c) Closure property
(iv) (4) x [(-7) x (5)] = [(- 4) x (-7)] x (5) (d) Associative Property

Question 2
Fill in the blanks keeping in (RBSESolutions.com) view the properties of multiplication of integers :
(i) 26 x (- 48) = (- 48) x ……. Commutative
(ii) (- 6) x [(- 2) + (- 1)] = (- 6) x (- 2) + (- 6) x …. Distributive property
(iii) 100 x [(- 4) x (- 52)] = [100 x ….] x (- 52) Associative
Solution:
(i) 26 x (- 48) = (- 48) x 26 Commutative
(ii) (- 6) x [(-2) + (- 1)] = (- 6) x (- 2) + (- 6) x (- 1) Distributive property
(iii) 100 x [(-4) x (-52)] = [100 x (- 4)] x (- 52) Associative

Question 3
Find product by using (RBSESolutions.com) appropriate property:
(i) 26 x (- 48) + (-48) x (-56)
(ii) 8 x (78) x (-125)
(iii) 9 x (50 – 2)
(iv) 999 x 45
Solution:
(i) 26 x (-48) + (-48) x (-56)
= (48) x 26 + (-48) x (-56)
= (-48) x [26 + (-56)]
= ( 48) x [26 – 56] = 48 x (-30)
= 1440

(ii) 8 x 78 x (-125)
= [8 x (-125)] x 78 = -1000 x 78
= -78000

(iii) 9 x (50 – 2)
= 9 x 50 – 9 x 2 = 450 – 18
= 432

(iv) 999 x 45
= (1000 – 1) x 45 = 1000 x 45 – 45 = 45000 – 45
= 44955

Question 4
Identify True/False. Correct (RBSESolutions.com) the false statements and write :
(i) Multiplication of integers is closed.
(ii) Division of integers is closed.
(iii) Division of integers is not commutative but multiplication is commutative.
(iv) Multiplication of integers, is distributive over addition.
(v) Division of integers is distributive on subtraction.
Solution:
(i) True
(ii) False because division of integers is not closed.
(iii) True
(iv) True
(v) False because division of (RBSESolutions.com) integers is not distributed on subtraction.
