Question 1
Kishor bought a chair for ₹450 and sold (RBSESolutions.com) it for ₹500. Find Kishor’s gain percentage.
Solution:
Cost price of chair = ₹450
Selling price of chair = ₹500
∴ Profit = S.P – C.P
= 500 – 450 = ₹50

Find gain or loss in following transactions of (RBSESolutions.com) buying and selling. Find gain or loss percent in each case.
(i) One bicycle was purchased for ₹3500 and sold for ₹3000.
(ii) One washing machine was purchased for ₹15000 and Sold for ₹15500.
(iii) A toy car was purchased for ₹450 and sold for ₹540.
(iv) Arvind bought a T.V. for ₹12000 and sold it for a profit of 15%. How much money is obtained on selling T.V. ?
Solution:
(i) Cost price of bicycle = ₹3500
Selling price = ₹3000
Loss = C.P – S.P
= 3500 – 3000 = ₹500

Selling price = ₹15,500
Profit = S.P – C.P

A businessman bought 50 kilogram cereal for ₹2000. He spent ₹400 on its cleaning. The (RBSESolutions.com) value of cereal decreased in market due to high supply. He sells it for ₹41 per kg. Find his percentage gain or loss.
Solution:
The cost of 50 kg cereal = ₹2000
Other expense = ₹400
Cost price = 2000 + 400 = ₹2,400
S.P. of 1 kg cereal = ₹41
S.P. of 50 kg cereal
= 50 x 41 = ₹2050
So loss on cereal Loss = C.P. – S.P.
= 2400 – 2050 = ₹350

Solution:
Shravan bought an scooter in = ₹5500
Other expenses = ₹150 + ₹550 = ₹700 Cost price = 5500 + 700 = ₹6200

∴ Profit = 15% of 6200
