Question 1
Compare the following pairs of (RBSESolutions.com) numbers and identify the greater one :
(i) 0.7 and 0.07
(ii) 2.03 and 2.30
(iii) 7 and 0.7
(iv) 1.35 and 1.49
(w) 3.507 and 3.570
(vi) 85.2 and 85.02
Solution:
(i) On comparing 0.7 and 0.07, whole number in left of decimal is 0 which are equal.
Now on the right we see the number,
first digit in 1st number is 7 and in other is 0.
∴ 7 > 0, so: 0.7 > 0.07

(ii) On comparing 2.03 and 2.30
Here characteristic are same 2 in both numbers
Therefore after decimal point first digits are 0 and
3, ∴0 < 3
∴ 2.03 < 2.30 or 2.30 > 2.03

(iii) On comparing 7 and 0.7
characteristic in (RBSESolutions.com) first number is 7 and in other is 0
∴ 7 > 0
∴ 0.7 > 0.7

(iv) On comparing 1.35 and 1.49
Characteristic in both number are same as 1 after decimal point
3 < 4
∴ 1.35 < 1.49

(v) On comparing 3.507 and 3.570
Characteristic are same as 3, 3 (RBSESolutions.com) which are same after decimal point ¡st digit are same but second digits are 0 and 7.
∴ 0 < 7 or 7 > 0
∴ 3.570 > 3.507

(vi) On comparing 85.20 and 85.02
characteristic 85 is same in both.
after decimal point 2 > 0
∴ 85.20 > 85.02

Solution:
Interest get by Bhavna = ₹37.25
Interest get by Anita = ₹25.50
Difference = ₹11.75
