Question 1
Which of the following (RBSESolutions.com) triads form a triangle :
(i) 6, 5, 5,
(ii) 2, 3, 5
(iii)3, 4, 8
(iv) 3, 5, 6
(v) 4, 4, 8,
(vi) 9, 2, 8
Solution:
(i) The sum of any two sides should (RBSESolutions.com) be greater than the third side.
∵ 6 + 5 = 11 ≥ 5
∴ Given sides construct a triangle.

(ii) The sum of any two sides should be greater than the third side.
∵ 2 + 3 ⊁ 5
∴ Given sides do not construct a triangle.

(iii) The sum of any two sides should be greater than the third side.
∵ 3 + 4 < 8
∴ Given sides construct a triangle.

(iv) The sum of any two sides (RBSESolutions.com) should be greater than the third side.
∵ 3 + 5 > 6
∴ Given sides construct a triangle.

(v) The sum of any two sides should be greater than the third side.
∵ 4 + 4 ⊁ 8
∴ Given sides do not construct a triangle.

(vi) The sum of any two sides should be greater than the third side.
∵ 8 + 2 > 9
∴ Given sides construct a triangle.

RBSE Solutions

Question 2
Find the value of all (RBSESolutions.com) angles of an equilateral triangle.
Solution:
The equilateral triangle has equal angles.
∴ x° + x0 + ;c°= 180°
⇒ 3x° = 180°
⇒ x° = \(\frac { 180 }{ 3 }\) = 60°
∴ All angles of an equilateral triangle are 60°, 60°, 60°.

Question 3
Fill in the blanks :
(i) At least two angles (RBSESolutions.com) in a triangle are ………… .
(ii) One altitude of an ……………. triangle lies outside the triangle.
(iii) Sum of any two sides of a triangle is …………. than the thrid side.
(iv) Two angles of an ……….. triangles are equal.
(v) The line joining the vertex to the middle point of opposite side of a triangle is called …….. .
(vi) The point where three medians of a triangle meet is called ………… .
(vii) All three ………… of a triangle pass (RBSESolutions.com) through the orthocentre of a triangle.
Solution:
(i) Acute angle
(ii) Obtuse angle
(iii) greater
(iv) isosceles triangle
(v) median
(vi) centroid
(vii) altitudes

Question 4
In ∆ABC, ∠A = 70° and AB = AC. Find the value of B and C.
Solution:
When two sides AB and AC are equal, then (RBSESolutions.com) their opposite angles ∠B and ∠C will also be equal.
RBSE Solutions for Class 7 Maths Chapter 8 Triangle and its Properties Ex 8.2
∵∠A = 70°
∵ Sum of all three (RBSESolutions.com) angles in a triangle = 180°
∠A+∠B +∠C = 180°
⇒ 70° + ∠B +∠B = 180° [∵ ∠B = ∠c]
⇒ 2∠B = 180° – 70° = 110°
∴ ∠B = \(\frac { { 110 }^{ 0 } }{ 2 }\) = 55° =∠C

Question 5
Construct a triangle and show in it one median and one altitude.
Solution:
In figure ∆ABC is a triangle.
∵ The line joining any vertex to (RBSESolutions.com) the mid point of its opposite side is called a median. Here D is mid point of side BC.
RBSE Solutions for Class 7 Maths Chapter 8 Triangle and its Properties Ex 8.2
∴ AD is a median.
Also a perpendicular draw from (RBSESolutions.com) a vertex to its opposite side, is called an altitude
∵ ∠BEC = ∠BEA = 90°
∴ BE is an altitude.

Question 6
The length of two sides of a triangle are 3 cm and 6 cm. What could be the (RBSESolutions.com) minimum and maximum value of its third side?
Solution:
Minimum measure of third side may be = 6 – 3 = 3
and Maximum measure may be = 6 + 3 = 9
Therefore third side will be greater than 3 or less than 9.
Thus we can say the third side may be either 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 cm.

Question 7
