Question 2.
Himi traveled 240 km. by bus and 360 km. by train then determine,
(i) Ratio of travelling by train and travelling by bus.
(ii) Ratio of travelling(RBSESolutions.com)by bus and by train.
(iii) Ratio of travelling by train and total travelling.
(iv) Ratio of travelling by bus and total travelling.
Solution:
(i) Journey by train = 360 km.
Journey by bus = 240 km.
∴ Ratio of journey travelled by train to journey travelled by bus = 360 : 240
= \(\frac { 360 }{ 120 } :\frac { 240 }{ 120 } \)
= 3 : 2
(ii) katio of journey travelled by bus to journey’ travelled by train
= 240 : 360
= 2 : 3
(iii) Ratio of journey travelled by train to total distance
= 360 : (240 + 360)
= 360 : 600
= \(\frac { 360 }{ 120 } :\frac { 600 }{ 120 } \) (HCF (360,600) = 120)
= 3 : 5
(iv) Ratio of journey travelled by bus to total distance
= 240 : 600
= \(\frac { 240 }{ 120 } :\frac { 600 }{ 120 } \) (HCF (240,600) = 120)
= 2 : 5

In class VIII 68% students obtained grade A out of 75 students. How many students obtainable grade A?
Solution:
No. of ‘A’ grade students = 68% of 75
= 75 x \(\frac { 68 }{ 100 }\)
= 51
Hence, 51 students got grade ‘A’.

Question 4.
A Kabaddi team of school has won 15 matches out of total matches played this year. If winning percentage was 75 then how many matches were played by the team?
Solution:
Let team played x matches.
Number of matches won = 15
∴ Percentage(RBSESolutions.com)of wins of the matches
= \(\frac { 15 }{ x }\) x 100%
According to question,
⇒ \(\frac { 15 }{ x }\) x 100 = 75
⇒ \(x=\frac { 15X100 }{ 75 }\)
⇒ x = 20
Hence, the total number of matches played by that team is 20.

Total number of trees = 1275

According to a survey of 50,000 students under mid day meal in five districts of Rajasthan, 60% students like Pulses—Chapati, 20% like vegetable and chapatti and rest like khichdi. Determine percentage of students who like khichdi?
Solution:
Total no. of students = 50,000
Number of students like Pulses and Chapatti = 60% of 50,000
= 50,000 x \(\frac { 60 }{ 100 }\) = 30,000

= 12,500
Remaining students
= 50,000 – (30,000 + 12,500)

∴ Percentage of students like Khichdi
= \(\frac { 7500 }{ 50000 }\) x 100
= 15%
