How many different magic squares can be made using the numbers 1-9? Class 7

Question 1.

How many different magic squares can be made using the numbers 1-9? Class 7

Solution:

Eight

Question 2.

Create a magic square using the numbers 2-10. What strategy would you use for this? Compare it with the magic squares made using 1-9. Class 7

Solution:

Here, total sum = 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + ... + 10 = 54

So, magic sum = [latex]\frac {54}{3}[/latex] = 18

and number at the centre = [latex]\frac {18}{3}[/latex] = 6.

On comparing it with magic squares of 1 - 9, here number in each cell has increased by 1.
